Living Kitchen

I walked into my kitchen
Right at five
To find the whole thing
Was all alive

I walked over
to the kitchen sink
When it looked back
And did a blink

I thought that it
Would really pout
When I saw
It had no mouth

The pots and pans
Were in a trance
As they did
A funny dance

I walked right over
To the blender
Which I found
Was quite tender

He looked at me
and said my friend
I have one rule
And it’s please don’t dent

I looked right at
The tin foil
Which just wanted
To be spoiled

He said
If you could make me straight
That would be
Really great

The fireplace
Sang with grace
But the song she sang
Was about her face

There are prints on me
From your finger
Clean them up
And do not linger

The stove called next
And it cried
Saying it burned
My apple pie

But last of all
Was the fridge
That wanted to move
Just a smidge

So with all the requests
I got to work
And did my best

Gruffalo the Buffalo

Gruffalo the Buffalo
Roamed through the pasture
That was owned
Just by the pastor

Gruffalo had friends
That lived in the field
Who could go on and on
With nowhere to yield

Like his friend chow
Who was a strange cow
For he thought he was super
So he always said pow

Gruff had a friend
Who was quite the pig
She wanted to dance
So she did a small Jig

Twig was her name
That wanted fun
And some fame
But mostly things stayed the same

Though the pasture was large
And Gruff wasn’t in charge
He still loved his friends
As they gazed at the stars

The fish’s wish

Deep below the light colored sea
Where there is hardly any anemone
A fish lies down covered in sand
Waiting for its occasional morning dish

With nothing swimming by
The fish rises up from its spot
And goes to a small hole
To seek out, what may dwell

As the fish finds nothing
No food to eat
He suddenly realizes
 His life’s repeat

He searches for something new
Not one, but maybe two
Friends, acquaintances, that he could bid adieu

When he came upon a small goldfish
And talked with him,
A smile had formed on both of them
And they were thankful the day was through

The Timid Turkey

There once was a turkey
That lived somewhere murky
He hid in the fog
To avoid all the hogs
Because he feared he would turn into jerky

Drake the Snake

There was a snake
They all called Drake
Who wanted to bake
But couldn’t create

For he had no hands
To mix and measure
For this sad fact
Gave drake no pleasure

He tried to rake
And do some chores
Because he thought
He could do something more

He tried to stand
With rake in mouth
To push and pull
But nothing really
Came about

He had no legs
To walk around
And move the leaves
From off the ground

Drake the snake
said with a sigh
I guess I’m just
The average guy

But of course
How special is he
That wants to do
More for you

Goat's Coats

There are men with big coats
And men who ride goats
Men who ride goats
Are no good at notes

Some men who are offered coats
Say totes to those coats
But to me personally
I want a goat

The Bubble

There once was a bubble
Who feared so much trouble
Day by day he floated and floated
Rising and falling with the stray streams of wind

Up on high he supposed
That the lower he goes
Would only bring woes to others
As life would come to a close

As the bubble looked around
with his shiny wide eyes
Found only smiles
For miles and miles

There was never a frown
Around and around
As bubbles popped
Both up and down

The wind took him down
And the bubble he froze
Going to a pink colored rose
He smiled and popped in the snow

The Wedding

I went to a wedding
Now I’m hot and all sweaty
I looked for a crown
But found nothing in town
So all they got was some bedding

For you or for me

Give me a word
That’s not too absurd
And a poem I will make it

If you give me a mix
That’s not hard to fix
Then surely I will bake it

If you give me a game
That is for two or more
Then I definitely will play it

All of these things
I would do just for you
If you give me some fresh bacon

Mable

There is a cradle for Mable
Who seems quite unstable
But we see in this fable
That Mable is able
To stand supported by tables

Those tables for Mable
Now no longer available
For Mable is able
To go on her way
And prove she is stable

The Mobster

In a town called Turpentine
There lives a shady mobster
Who thinks there’s nothing better to do
Than eating his red lobster

Sunburn

I had a friend
his name was Ben
Until he changed it to Barry
In the sun, he came and went
Till he looked like a cherry

Poet Fight Club

In the Poet Fight Club
People come from all across the sea
People like Annabel Lee

Gnome Peter is there as well
Along with Belinda and Custard the dragon

Mehoo’s and Exactlywatt’s
cheered from the left
While The Phoenix and the turtle
On the right cheered for their own team

Shel Silverstein looked pristine
In his suit to judge the scene

Robert Frost rushed in with a grin
Saying “sorry I am late”
I had some things on my plate
that I simply couldn’t win.
My way was blocked so I took the road not traveled,
luckily I am not covered in gravel

He looked at the trophy
The chalice shined
For everyone said it is mine

It has to go
We need something silver or gray
For nothing gold can stay

Edgar Allen Poe got in the ring
With poet Ogden Nash

Silverstein shouted, pick your names
Before the real game begins

Ogden Nash chose The Hunter
To show he would not cave in
But Edger Poe thought it best
That he be called The Raven

The Lemonade Stand

Everyone at some point
Needs a good joint
Somewhere sunny
But not in the sand

In the neighborhood
Perhaps
Is a place to relax
Where nothing could get in our way

On the corner lives dan
With his wife Fran
Right across From the girl
With the lemonade stand

She sits on the sidewalk
Everyday
All through the summer
With her lemonade
Smiling away

That summer feeling

As the sun comes out
And school kids shout
Running through the halls
And through the door

Crowds of kids fill the sidewalk
Supervisors pushing the crowd back
And stopping the jaywalkers from crossing
Their actions just keep the kids talking

There’s talk of work
And talk of play
And talk of sports
Till they’re all bored

Parents in their cars pull up
To retrieve their kids
They arrive home
To plan their vacations

Each one with a pencil and paper
Make their list of dreams

The Haunted House

A haunted house
My friend did enter
It was a school
With a study center

The students ran
From the phantom
They wondered why
It was quite random

Although haunted
It was not terrible
For my friend
It was quite bearable

After that day
My friend disappeared
Or so they say
