The Wishing Well

There is a well
In the middle of town
Where no one ever can look down

It’s guarded by tall men
So you can’t see past them
But every day there’s a time
Where people can throw in a dime

So I waited till the guards were off patrol
And looked down to see a wishing troll
He climbed up the stone and watery wall
And to my surprise he didn’t fall

I held out my hand
Which was grabbed right away
Then I lifted that old wishing troll
Up into the light

He looked me up and down
And I at him
I never thought a troll could be so thin

He was small and furry
Said his name was Murry
Murry gave a sigh and said
I could really go for curry

I saw his hands
were chained to the well
He told me he was bound
By a wishing spell

You helped me up
From that old well
It seems to me, you are quite swell

So wishes I will give you three
Just think of some
And take a knee

So I took a knee
And sat in thought
Of what for me could be brought

I wish for gold
That will not mold
That isn’t fake
That I can hold

So Murray snapped his fingers
And there appeared a bowl
That to the brim
Was full of gold

This thing you’ve done
Has brought me glee
Now Murry my friend
I’ll set you free

With a snap his bonds were broke
He jumped for joy
Like a little boy
And gave me a hug
Before he spoke

If you need a friend
Or someone to talk to
I will be there
I’ve got you

The Sales Fish

At the lake one morning
I sat on the edge just looking
Wondering what could be inside
When a fish just popped up

He pulled his brown coat aside
And said buy what you like
We have a ship in a bottle
There are also words from Aristotle

There’s a toy that was sunk years ago
But it’s still good, don’t you know
I’ve got things like you never seen
Some are blue and some are green

All these things sunk in the lake
But none of it is completely fake

You can have a picnic blanket
Or a tablecloth from a banquet
All these things don’t you shun
Because sales fish gives no refunds
